Indicative figures

How this could apply to your project.

Every assumption below is yours to set. Change any input and the ranges move. Each result shows its workings — nothing is asserted that you can't check.

Total value of the works, excluding GST.

8%

Variations as a percentage of contract value. Default 8% — adjust to your experience on this type of work.

Your figure, not ours. Leave blank if you'd rather not enter it. Nausicaa's own stated variation markup range is 20–30%.

22%

The uplift you'd expect on Kimberley procurement against a southern equivalent. Default 22%.

60%
15%

Your judgement, not our claim. Set it to zero if you don't accept the premise.

Including flights, accommodation, vehicle and lost office time. Leave blank to skip the comparison.

Indicative ranges

Indicative variation cost difference
—

How this is calculated

Variation value = contract value × your expected variation volume. That value is then priced at the markup you entered, and at each end of Nausicaa's stated 20–30% range. The result is the difference between the two, shown as a range. If you leave the markup field blank, no comparison is made. We do not assume what anyone else charges.

Indicative supply chain sourcing difference
—

How this is calculated

Procured value = contract value × the subcontracted share you set. Premium exposure = that figure × the Kimberley premium you set. The range shown is the share of that exposure you nominated as addressable, plus or minus 30%. All three inputs are yours — set the addressable share to zero and this result goes to nil.

On-ground vs remote engagement
—

How this is calculated

On-ground cost = engagement days per month × our day rate × project duration. Day and hourly rates are available on request, agreed after a discussion about the project. If you enter your current cost per site attendance day, the same day count is priced at your figure and the difference shown as a range of ±15%.

Security of payment — amount at risk
—

How this is calculated

This is an exposure figure, not a saving, and it is deliberately not presented as one. It is simply the contract value divided by the duration — the indicative size of one monthly progress claim. If a payment schedule is not issued within the statutory window, the amount at risk is the full amount claimed, regardless of merit. We make no estimate of how likely that is, because we cannot know.

The ranges above are only as good as the assumptions behind them. A conversation about the contract, the programme and the subcontract chain will tell you far more than any calculator can.
